Y Crochan Café is a fabulous place to eat and one of the best places to eat in Mid Wales. A finalist in the “Best Place to Eat in Mid Wales” (Mid Wales Tourism awards 2019/20) ,Y Crochan cafe serves a delicious all-day menu featuring fabulous local ingredients which have been grown, reared and produced in Wales. The menu is inspired by the local surroundings and the availability of fresh seasonal produce. Y Crochan café is right next to the 9 Corris Craft Studios.
A selection of hot and cold food and drink is served throughout the day. Enjoy freshly ground morning coffee (the coffee beans are expertly roasted by the Baristas at Zealots Coffee in North Wales) tea, hot chocolate or a cold drink with a great selection of locally baked cakes and biscuits. There’s an all day Breakfast bap menu too, choose from Welsh sausages, bacon, eggs and mushrooms or enjoy a tasty fully loaded breakfast bap with all four ingredients.
The delicious lunch menu includes the popular selection of Welsh Rarebits where a traditional Welsh recipe is used. Choose from a traditional Welsh Rarebit or add a tasty topping including bacon, garlic mushrooms and hot Welsh mustard. This year’s brand new burger menu has a range of steak burgers, lamb, sausage and vegan burgers, all served on a sourdough beer bap. Other options include Y Crochan made soup, Welsh Lamb cawl, Freshly Baked Pie with Mash Potato and Coleslaw, a range of jacket potatoes and freshly cooked pasta dishes.
Enjoy a delicious Afternoon Tea for 2 with a selection of sandwiches, mini quiches, Welsh rarebit topped brioche, freshly baked Y Crochan scones and bara brith, chocolate fudge cake, raspberry ripple cheesecake, salted caramel brownie, Y Crochan baked lemon treacle tart all served with either freshly ground coffee or freshly brewed tea. Please book your afternoon tea for 2 by calling us beforehand. Should you not want to indulge in an Afternoon Tea, you can choose from a selection of cakes and a range of speciality teas and traditional teas (also freshly ground coffee or choose from a range of cold drinks) are available.
Tell the staff about any food allergies or special diets, they will be able to cater for your needs.
Choose to eat indoors, the café seats up to 80 so is perfect for group meals, or sit at picnic tables outside where you can soak up the stunning Mid Wales views. There are tables overlooking the small children’s play area where you can keep a watchful eye over your little ones. For young families there are high chairs and hot water can be provided for heating your baby’s bottles. The outdoor seating area overlooks the Mach Loop , a training area used by the RAF and USAF for their low flying fast aircraft so you may get treated to a free air display too.
Y Crochan café has been awarded a 5* Food Hygiene Rating which means they take their food hygiene seriously - as well as their fabulous food, of course. Additional measures are also in place to help to keep you and our staff covid secure. Enjoy free WIFI.
